About a year’s gone by since we put out Volume 1, and CF Hawn continues to meet and record despite life’s many complications. This LP features beats by G’Odd; who also contributes rhymes alongside Da Monnie, Boxhead Walker, Tate Boy, Sarge, and Yung Bone the Great.
The lowest MCs from the Bella Vida Apartments in Dallas met in the shadow of the CF Hawn Freeway, rolled blunts and bolos, and rapped for weeks. This is the product. It’s out on all platforms and about to set off a round of short tours around the South and greater New York. We’ve got lots of records out. Get into it.
G’Odd entered the rap game in early 2020 with a project called The Fire Brigade. Relocating to Dallas in late 2021, he soon met the neighborhood MCs. What followed was a whirlwind of creation as the hard street trap of the Greedy Grove (the notoriously violent and dangerous neighborhood of which Bella Vida is the center) with the art-damaged hip hop of the global DIY culture.
Da Monnie is the king of hooks, his deep baritone rounding out CF Hawn sessions with spontaneous songwriting and rock-solid rhythm. His hard-boiled lyrics come straight off the streets where he bangs, the life of a solitary survivor. He’s the trap ronin.
Boxhead Walker is a smooth-talking rounder with no mailing address. He released his first rap songs and videos in 2021 as a member of The Fire Brigade. Influenced by Shock G, MF Doom, and Slick Rick; Boxhead’s a lyrical shapeshifter never seen without his notebook and pen.
Tate Boy’s got a light touch to his heavy rhymes, and a sly drawl to his cypher. The playful assassin seduces the mic. He’s known Bone and Da Monnie since they were all kids, sharing dreams and values and waiting for their moment. This is it.
Yung Bone the Great has released a few singles and mixtapes over the years, and is well known in the Grove for his freestyle prowess. His lyrics combine concepts and styles from the hood to Mars and beyond.
Mecca is the name G’Odd has used for his self-released music for many years; including such projects as Jail Fail, Freak Masons DT, Di Kang, Android Void, and SIkhara. With Boxhead’s help, he’s expanded the operation into Dallas. We’re on all platforms.
